Our structure

Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel

The Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel (EWAP) is a standing committee of BVA Council. Its purpose is to advise the Policy Committee (PC) and policy working groups on ethical and welfare issues to consider in the development of policy on all veterinary policy matters. This includes animal health and welfare, public health, and veterinary professional issues.

EWAP is currently chaired by Madeleine Campbell.

EWAP membership

EWAP is made up of 8 members including:

  • at least 5 independent MRCVS members appointed via the Nominations and Awards Group (NAG)
  • at least 1 RVN appointed via NAG
  • at least 1 lay member appointed via NAG

EWAP expertise and experience

All members of EWAP have demonstrable experience/expertise and/or qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • animal welfare science
  • veterinary and animal ethics
  • animal welfare law
