Why do horses doing different sports get different injuries?
Dr Rachel Murray - Wednesday 17 September
Horses are becoming increasingly specialised for specific sports, so we tend to see a pattern of injury that is specific for horses within a particular sport. This is to some degree due to risk of particular accidental-type injuries, but of potentially more importance and more possible to prevent is training-associated injury due to repetitive overload of particular structures. This talk looks at the patterns of injury seen in specific sports, why they occur and what potential interventions could reduce their occurrence.
The challenges of interpreting the responses to diagnostic analgesia
Dr Sue Dyson - Wed 19 November
Nerve blocks are hugely valuable in lameness investigation, but are not as specific as we would like and there are many pitfalls in interpretation. This will be illustrated by case examples.
