BVA Scottish Branch
The BVA’s Scottish Branch brings together representatives of the BVA’s territorial and specialist divisions, government, academic institutions and research organisations in Scotland.
Aims
The aims of the Scottish Branch are to
- foster the interests of the veterinary profession in Scotland
- assist the BVA in its activities by advising on the consensus view of the Scottish members on Scottish and United Kingdom issues particularly with reference to the Scottish Parliament and Government, Scottish law, the National Farmers Union of Scotland and Scottish animal welfare organisations
- promote meetings in any part of Scotland for the discussion of veterinary topics and kindred subjects, including assisting in the coordination of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Membership
Every BVA member resident in Scotland is a member of the Scottish Branch.

There are three Officers of the Scottish Branch, posts which are currently held by the following members:

Council
The role of the Scottish Branch Council is to
- discuss veterinary policy issues as they relate to Scotland and make all efforts to reach a consensus view on those issues; and
- assist the BVA in formulating policy

Annual General Meeting
The Scottish Branch holds its Annual General Meeting in June, which all members of the BVA resident in Scotland may attend. The 2011 AGM took place on 16 June and the minutes
