Election and terms of office

The BVA Officer team changes every year after the annual general meeting (AGM) held at the end of BVA Congress.

The first step to becoming a BVA Officer is to be nominated by the BVA Electoral College. It puts forward a candidate for the President-Elect role every year.

The nomination then goes before BVA Council for approval and following this the AGM makes the final decision on the candidate.

After AGM approval the candidate becomes BVA President-Elect and part of the BVA Officer team.

After a year in post the President-Elect becomes BVA President at the AGM and after the second year Past President.

One term of office as BVA Officer is therefore three years.
