Grants and awards

As a member of the British Veterinary Association (BVA) you can apply, or be eligible for, one of our many grants and awards

We offer various grants and awards to our members, including

Grants

  • BVA Overseas Travel Grants - up to £500 each, available to student member in their clinical years, undertaking a project (in a developing country) which contributes to sustainable development, including the promotion of good animal welfare.
  • TAWS Overseas Travel Grants  - supporting veterinary undergraduates undertaking projects involving working transport animals or animals used for draught work in developing countries.
  • Donkey Sanctuary Overseas Travel Grant - covering travel and subsistence expenses to support veterinary undergraduates visiting a project site in Mexico, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya or India.
  • Harry Steele-Bodger Memorial Travel Scholarship - assisting a visit by an individual to a veterinary or agricultural school or research institute, or some other course of study approved by the governing committee.

Awards

  • Chiron Award - recognising outstanding contributions to veterinary science or for outstanding services to the veterinary profession.
  • Dalrymple-Champneys Cup - to mark and recognise work of outstanding merit which it is considered will encourage the advancement of veterinary science.
  • Trevor Blackburn Award - awarded for significant contributions overseas and services to the veterinary profession.
  • William Hunting Award - given by The Veterinary Record to the best practitioner based paper to appear for the year.
