Set up in August 2000, the IRG report, which reviews the procedures by which POMs for veterinary use are classified and sold in the UK and the impact of current practices on availability and prices, was published last May.

'While we have yet to study the terms of reference for the OFT investigation in detail it would appear that the considerable amount of evidence gathered for the IRG review can now also be utilised for the OFT investigation. At first reading' said Mr Scott, 'the similarities in remit engender an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.
