Roger Clarke graduated from the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in 1964 moving initially into mixed practice in Leicestershire before moving to Norfolk where he has remained, becoming principal of a mixed practice in 1968. His interest in veterinary politics led him to the Council of the British Veterinary Hospitals Association (BVHA), a BVA division, where he remained for nine years including a period as President in 1986. Since 1990 Roger has been a Council member of the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons (SPVS), another BVA division, where he has held the posts of President and Public Relations Officer. Since 1999 he has taken a broader role by representing SPVS on the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe's equivalent division, the European Union of Veterinary Practitioners. Roger supports Norwich City Football Club, enjoys pony driving and spending time with his wife Marna, three children and three grandchildren.
