Mr David Catlow - BVA Past PresidentBVA Congress, 30 September 2007 David Catlow graduated from Liverpool University Veterinary School in 1987 and immediately joined a 5-vet mixed practice on the Fylde coast, Lancashire. He joined the partnership in 1992 and has helped to develop the practice into what is now a 3-centre 14 vet practice (J B Johnson & Partners, Oakhill Veterinary Centre, Preston, Lancashire). His work is predominantly with horses and farm animals across the county of Lancashire. The practice was awarded Investor In People status in 2005. |

In his spare time David regularly breeds horses, attempting to breed that elusive “next show jumping champion”, and has performed his own equine Embryo Transfers in pursuit of that aim. He has a keen interest in all sports having played rugby at national league level and is an enthusiastic exponent, but hopeless participator, in the game of golf. Skiing and hill-walking are activities he enjoys at every opportunity as well as supporting his own family in their various sporting endeavours. His involvement with BVA began through representing the Lancashire Veterinary Association, and serving as their President in 2000. He has served on several BVA committees including the Veterinary Services Advisory Committee and the Internal Audit Group, and was the Chairman of the BVA Veterinary Policy Group for three years until October 2004; he was elected BVA President on 1 October 2006, a position he held until the BVA AGM on 30 September 2007. |
