RSPCA/BVA Memorandum of Understanding

The updated agreement between the BVA and the national RSPCA has now been agreed.  The agreement outlines the arrangements for emergency treatment of sick and injured stray and wild animals.  Download here. (pdf 52KB)  A flowchart that outlines the procedure practices should use when faced with sick and injured stray and wild animals requiring initial emergency treatment is available to download here.

Veterinary Prescriptions and Authentication Stickers

A standard prescription form is now available for members to download in PDF and word format.  Also available for purchase are optional books of authentication stickers which can be attached to the prescription form to lessen the chance of fraudulent use and to provide an effective audit trail.

The stickers are available in books of 30.  The cost is £30 per book for non-members and £15 for members.

Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture Alliance (RUMA) Guidelines

RUMA has issued new guidelines on the responsible use of vaccines and vaccination in farm animals.  The guidelines come in two formats: short, giving concise information to farmers, and long, aimed at those advising farmers, such as veterinary surgeons.  For further information see the the RUMA website at www.ruma.org.uk
