The Veterinary History Society

The Veterinary History Society was founded at a meeting held in the Wellcome Historical Medical Library in London on 31st October 1962

The aims of the Society are to foster all aspects of veterinary history by means of publishing a regular journal; promoting meetings for members and guests; sponsoring lectures for other veterinary societies or students and at joint meetings with other societies; encouraging the preservation of artefacts of veterinary historical interest; and assisting researchers and others in any matters related to the history of the veterinary art.

Meetings are held three times a year, including an AGM;  these alternate between London and convenient provincial centres.  Some are arranged in conjunction with suitable veterinary congresses, or jointly with other societies.  Most meetings are open to guests as well as members.

The Society's journal Veterinary History is published twice yearly and is distributed without charge to all paid-up members.  Non-members may receive the journal on payment of the current subscription.  Membership is open to all and is not confined to veterinary surgeons.  Members are encouraged to participate in the Society's activities by attending meetings and by presenting papers as lectures or for publication in Veterinary History.
