In this section you can find out more about the British Veterinary Association (BVA) Overseas Travel Grants
The BVA Overseas Travel Grants scheme, instituted in March 1983, awards grants (of up to £500 each) annually, to undergraduates attending a veterinary school in the United Kingdom.
The BVA overseas travel grant scheme has given students the chance to gain experience in the prevention and control of exotic and emerging animal diseases as well as helping them to develop beneficial life skills such as communication, adaptability and open-mindedness. Since 1983 grants have been awarded to 102 veterinary students enabling them to undertake projects in 38 different developing countries.
The 100th BVA travel grant was awarded in 2011; this milestone being celebrated in a session at BVA Congress. We’ve also heard from many former grant recipients who highlight the most important things they learned from their experiences overseas.
