In this section you can find out more about how to apply for a British Veterinary Association (BVA) Overseas Travel Grant
Applicants must be
- attending a veterinary school in the United Kingdom
- student members of the BVA
- in their clinical years
- undertaking a project in a developing country which contributes to sustainable development, including the promotion of good animal welfare
The project should be the applicant's own or run in conjunction with local personnel and not be part of an expedition. It should have support from academic staff, and a practising veterinary surgeon who knows the student well. BVA will write to them for references.
Applicants should be aware of the importance of being officially registered with the appropriate veterinary and other authorities before embarking on their projects.
Successful applicants will be expected to write a 500-word summary together with supporting photographs of his/her experience, in a form suitable for publication. The report must be sent to the BVA within two months of return to the UK.
Applications for the next tranche of grants will be considered in March/April 2009 - these will be for projects being undertaken during 2009.
