From January 2009 all BVA graduate members up to eight years qualified will receive free personal accident insurance* as part of their membership package

Cover applies 24 hours a day, that is, not just while working and the benefits are designed to provide you with financial resources to help you cope with suffering serious injury following an accident - see table below.

Free personal accident insurance for recent graduate members
Catastrophic injuries (that is, quadriplegia, paraplegia, hemiplegia)
 Up to £150,000
Permanent total disablement (that is, inability to work as a vet)
 £50,000
Permanent partial disablement (that is, loss of limb, speech or hearing) Up to £50,000
Burns Up to £50,000
Facial scarring Up to £10,000
Hospitalisation benefit as a result of an accident £50 per 24 hours

This new benefit is focused on the consequence of serious, but survivable, accidents. As such, it may not necessarily meet all your personal needs for adequate insurance; for example, it does not protect your income or provide cover in the event of death.
