Membership Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to help engage and retain our members through outbound calling and membership support. This exciting role is central to helping to improve our member experience by delivering a range of targeted telephone campaigns including courtesy calls, benefits awareness campaigns, welcome messages and telephone research.

The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills so that you can talk directly with members on a range of matters and help them get the most out of their membership, thereby increasing their likelihood of renewing.

It is essential that your have a superb telephone manner coupled with a genuine interest in talking to members, but we’re also looking for someone who is computer literate and familiar with using CRM systems to accurately maintain customer records. An organised and confident individual, you’ll also contribute to the smooth running of the membership department.

Media Manager (part time - 3 days a week)

We are looking for a dynamic Media Manager to drive and deliver creative communications strategies to ensure that we champion the veterinary profession and represent the views of our members to greatest effect.

This position is a job share with BVA’s other part-time Media Manager and plays a key role in the wider media, public affairs and policy team as well as working closely with BVA’s digital, marketing, business development and membership teams across the organisation.

To be successful you will have solid experience of developing and delivering PR campaigns for a range of media, including national press, with an up-to-minute understanding of the UK media landscape. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt communications styles and tactics to effectively reach target audiences; the confidence to lead projects; and to work flexibly in a small, busy team.

This role includes supporting the Head of Media and Public Affairs to promote BVA’s policy recommendations and lobbying activities; managing the PR for key BVA events throughout the year; building and maintaining relationships with journalists; as well as general press office duties, such as briefing BVA spokespeople, handling incoming media enquiries and drafting material for a wide range of outlets and channels.
