BVA respond to confirmed cases of Bovine TB in dogs in UK

08 March 2017

Following the media coverage on the case of fox hounds at a Buckinghamshire kennels contracting bovine tuberculosis (TB), BVA have issued this statement:

"The Animal and Plant Health Agency is still investigating how these dogs came to be infected with M.bovis, the bacterium that causes bovine TB. M.bovis infections in dogs have rarely been recorded and the risk of infection to other dogs and family pets is very low. While infections in pets are extremely rare, if you have any health concerns for your pet, you should contact your local vet as soon as possible."
