Vet businesses to keep doors open during lockdown

There will be no imminent return to previous strict lockdown rules obliging vet practices to cease all but emergency care and work relating to the food supply chain.

That was the message from organisations leading the profession as England entered a new month-long lockdown earlier this month.

On 4 November, shortly before the start of England’s new lockdown, the RCVS issued guidance for all four home nations of the UK, each of which have different restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.

While in England people are being issued with blanket instructions to stay at home except for specific purposes (with non-essential shops as well as certain businesses like pubs, gyms and tourist attractions also ordered to close), Scotland is continuing with a tiered system of localised restrictions.
