According to the latest Pet Food Manufacturers Association’s pet population report, there are at least 700,000 reptiles being kept as pets in the UK, and so the likelihood of encountering these patients at some point in first-opinion practice is high. Yet, how many of us dread the reptile consult? How many of us refuse to see reptiles, or hiss to the receptionist to ‘send them to an exotics vet’ when the owner contacts the practice for an appointment?
