After 11 years as CEO of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Claire Horton CBE has left the charity to become director general of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. While at Battersea, she secured continued year-on-year growth, increased the charity’s supporter base, quadrupled its income, repositioned the brand and expanded its direct animal services, leading to it becoming one of the UK’s top 10 charity brands. She also led the delivery of award-winning behaviour change campaigns such as ‘Staffies, they’re softer than you think’ and ‘Rescue Is our favourite breed’.
