Cave Veterinary Specialists in Somerset became an RCVS-approved vet nurse training centre during the first national lockdown. Currently, the practice, which is part of Linnaeus, is training two student vet nurses – Anna Sharland and Amy Burrough (pictured far right) – who have also been enrolled for further training at the Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing. As a recognised training practice, Cave Veterinary Specialists can host undergraduate vet nurses completing block placements as part of their degree course.

Katie Whalley’s research on quantifying and monitoring practice cleanliness won her the top prize at the MSD Animal Health Research Bursary Awards 2020, making her the first vet nurse to win the trophy, which includes a £1000 prize.
