Event Description

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

With the Kennel Club predicting that the French Bulldog will become the most popular UK breed most practices will be seeing more problems associated with brachycephalic breeds. Offering clients the best advice and giving them confidence that your practice has the expertise to deal with the specific challenges associated with their pets, will be to both your advantages.

On this course you’ll learn about the risk factors and prevalence of breed specific diseases with a specific focus on brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, including how to assess these patients and grade the severity of their disease. Diagnosis and management, including the latest surgical techniques for treatment, will be discussed in detail together with the importance of tailored anaesthetic protocols and post-operative care. Finally, there will be a holistic look at improving the health of these breeds longer term, which the veterinary profession has a duty to consider and take action to achieve.

After attending this course you will be able to:

• Identify the different components of brachycephalic syndrome
• Discuss the risks factor for brachycephalic obstructive airway disease with your clients
• Recognise the clinical presentation of the disease
• Offer your patients management options for BOAS including surgical options
• Engage in strategies for improving the health of brachycephalic breeds.

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Jessica Wachtel on 020 7908 6336.
