Event Description

Course programme (181KB PDF)

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

This course is aimed at companion animal, general practitioners with an interest in imaging.

The course will concentrate entirely on orthopaedic imaging. We will cover a review of the fundamentals and how to achieve the best possible quality radiographs in general practice so as to be able to make accurate assessment of patients, and plan treatment.

With the ever increasing availability of outpatient advanced imaging, there will also be discussion of where these services can be appropriately used to confirm diagnoses and plan for surgical treatment

The five key things delegates will learn from this course are:

  • The fundamentals of radiographic physics, and how this helps achieve better quality radiographs
  • The optimum radiographic projections of the four most common canine orthopaedic
conditions, and an understanding why positioning and exposure factors are critical to making diagnoses in subtle cases
  • The basic principles of periosteal new bone formation and bone lysis with respect to differentiating between sinister and benign lesions
  • The basic principles of periarticular new bone formation and subchondral bone loss with respect to creating a meaningful differential diagnostic list
  • Where advanced imaging can be useful in achieving a definitive diagnosis and in planning for treatment

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Helen Dingle on 020 7908 6336.
