Event Description

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

A quick fine-needle aspirate can usually be done in the shortest of consults, but at the end of a busy day giving a diagnosis to a concerned owner can be nerve-wracking. In house cytology can save your clients both time and money so having the self-assurance to give a definitive answer is a huge benefit to them and their pets.

This interactive course with a great mix of knowledge-enhancing lectures and real laboratory practice, will ensure you have the confidence to diagnose many commonly presented lesions. A session on lymph node aspiration cytology will mean you can offer clients quicker answers on some of those more worrying cases.

After attending this course you will be able to:

• Confidently collect cytological and tissue samples and prepare smears and impression smears
• Formulate a diagnosis based on your microscopic examination of smear preparations
• Make definitive decisions on sending samples for second opinions
• Use your assessment of a sample to decide on biopsy versus removal with wide margins, when sending for histology
• Distinguish between inflammation, infection, benign lesions and malignancies.

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call the Jessica Wachtel on 020 7908 6336.
