Event Description

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

The course has everything you ever wanted to know about Diabetes Mellitus and quite a few things you didn’t know you needed. Diabetes mellitus is commonly encountered in practice and changing how you think could make your handling of cases even more successful. Considering it as a syndrome, with many underlying causes and co-morbidities, shifts the emphasis from a diagnosis that is a life sentence to identifying specific causes and targeting therapy. Insulin may remain the cornerstone of treatment but adjustments to exercise and diet, alongside good routine monitoring, can improve patient outcomes. Bringing the owner on side with your treatment plan and communicating well with your nursing team are key ingredients for success.

This is a fantastic opportunity to look in-depth at this condition and bring issues you might be having with own patients to the discussion, gaining valuable insight from other attendees and the expert tutor. The programme will be informal and interactive so you can bring the most up-to-date thinking on this complicated disorder back to your own practice.

After attending this course you will be able to:

• Use your understanding of the mechanisms of diabetes to improve management outcomes
• Consider the strengths and weakness of diagnostic and monitoring tests
• Set realistic goals for your therapeutic plans
• Achieve optimal outcomes with your monitoring protocols
• Lead a successful team approach to each patient, involving owners and nursing colleagues in your plans.

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Jessica Wachtel on 020 7908 6336.
