Event Description

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

Ever advancing knowledge in veterinary medicine means that keeping everything in your head is becoming less important than interpretation and knowing where to look for your knowledge. Except when an unstable trauma patient arrives in your consult room.

This course will help the general practitioner deal calmly and logically with the shocked multi-trauma patient, with a specific focus on best-practice handling of traumatic brain injury cases.

You’ll get up-to-date information on triage, pathophysiology and diagnostic techniques, including blood result analysis and point of care ultrasound, plus in depth discussion on initial treatment including analgesia, transfusion medicine and intravenous fluid therapy options. The opportunity to work through cases with other participants, and the support of the course tutor, will ensure you can put knowledge into practice the next time one of these challenging cases come through the door.

After attending this course you will be able to:

• Provide initial triage and stabilisation in the trauma patient
• Describe the pathophysiology of shock and recognise the associated implications for your patients
• Utilise available diagnostics to direct your treatment plan
• Instigate appropriate therapy for treatment of shock
• Apply the key principles of head trauma management in practice

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Jessica Wachtel on 020 7908 6336.
