Course programme (176KB PDF)

Registration will open at 09.00, with the course starting at 09.30. The course will finish at 17.00

Equus Citius, Altius, Fortius.

The sports horse world is getting ever more professional and competitive, whether that be at Olympic or recreational level. Riders expect to go to all the shows they planned and, if they don’t perform well, will be asking their vet for help. This can be a daunting challenge for those without considerable experience in this world.

The aim of this course is to demonstrate a logical process for evaluating cases of poor performance and subtle lameness. The approach will be practical rather than theoretical, with practical tips from those actually doing the day-to-day work. There will be an emphasis on trying to reach a diagnosis and on a logical and ethical approach to treatment, including veterinary treatment regulations for different sports.

Real life scenarios will be run through and there will be plenty of time for discussion.

The five key things delegates will learn from this course are:

  • A logical approach to poor performance
  • How to estimate the likely type of problem
  • Tips for appropriate diagnostic imaging
  • Current treatment options for tendon, ligament and joint injuries
  • The role of the back and sacroiliac region in poor performance

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Helen Dingle on 020 7908 6336.
