Event Description

Registration will open at 09.30, with the course starting at 10.00. The course will finish at 16.00.

This workshop is designed for vets and vet nurses preparing to return to work, or who have recently returned after a career break. You will explore practical tools and strategies to put yourself back in control, manage your time and thrive in practice. You’ll learn how, by making small changes, you can successfully combine work and family life. Returning to work can daunting - work moves on, drugs, people and procedures may change and you too may have changed. Whether you left to have children, explore different avenues or have a career break, your return is likely to be filled with mixed emotions and some concerns. During the day we will address these feelings and create a strategy around actions you can take to make it an easier and smoother return to work. This workshop will help you take confident steps to make your life and career within the veterinary profession work for you.

The five key things delegates will learn from this course are:

  • To develop your confidence
  • To create the time and space to assess your next career step and find the ‘working you'
  • Effective time management so you can fit everything in and still have time for yourself
  • How to prioritise, delegate and say no without feeling guilty
  • How to cope with the day-to-day practicalities of returning to work

This course is part of our Back to practice series. If you are planning to, or have recently returned to veterinary practice following a career break, our Back to practice series will increase your confidence and skills, as well as helping you build a support network to ease your transition back into working life. The speakers will update you on any changes since you were last in practice, and will refresh your knowledge in key areas. You can view the whole series of courses on the BVA CPD events page.

Please note - if you want to book three courses for the price of two please call Helen Dingle on 020 7908 6336.
