BVA has been awarded a bronze-level accreditation for its continued commitment to improving its ‘sustainability performance’, by Investors In The Environment (IIE).
The award was presented to BVA this month, after an auditing process was undertaken by IIE of the organisation. Over the past few years, BVA has moved towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of working which includes changes to BVA headquarters at Mansfield Street such as improved waste and recycling management, use of green cleaning products, reduction of paper use and increased use of green suppliers. BVA also produced a food procurement policy, an environmental policy and has an in-house ‘Green team’, who meet regularly
BVA Chief Executive, David Calpin said:
“We are delighted to have received this accreditation which marks the first step in a continuing process towards becoming an organisation that not only works in a way that reduces our impact on the environment, but also inspires others within the profession to follow suit.
“A lot of these changes have been achieved thanks to our brilliant facilities team who have worked really hard to help BVA operate in a more environmentally friendly way and have led on these actions alongside our in-house ‘green team’ of enthusiastic staff volunteers. We are now working towards our silver accreditation and hope to achieve this over the next year.”
